Window Film for Glass Curtain Systems
Almost every apartment and villa terrace on this coast has been enclosed with a glass curtain system, and almost every owner discovers the same thing in June: the terrace they gained is now the hottest room in the property. This is one of the most common jobs we are called out for, and one almost nobody else advertises.
Glass curtain systems, frameless folding glass that encloses a terrace, trap a great deal of solar heat because they are almost entirely glass with no frame, shading or thermal break. Solar control film applied to the panels rejects up to 80% of that heat while keeping the panels operating normally and the view unobstructed.
Why glass curtains overheat
A glass curtain is a wall of uninterrupted single glazing. There is no frame to shade it, no cavity, and usually no overhang above it. On a south or west terrace it behaves like a greenhouse, which is exactly what it is, and the room behind it inherits the heat through the open doors.
Film is the only fix that does not involve rebuilding the enclosure. It goes onto the existing panels, the panels still fold and slide as designed, and the terrace becomes usable in the afternoon again.
Fitting to frameless panels
These systems need care that ordinary windows do not. The panels are large, they pivot and stack, the edges are exposed on both faces, and the film has to be cut and sealed so the panels still run cleanly in their track without the edge lifting over time.
It is precise work and it is the reason we mention it as a specialism rather than treating it as another window. We fit both solar grades, where heat is the problem, and clear UV film where the owner wants no visible change to the glass at all.

Can film be fitted to cortinas de cristal?
Yes. Frameless glass curtain systems are one of our most frequent jobs. The panels need careful cutting and edge sealing so they keep running properly, which is why we treat it as a specialism.
Will the panels still fold and slide?
Yes. Fitted correctly the film does not affect the mechanism at all, the panels operate exactly as they did.
Which film is best for a glass curtain?
If the terrace overheats, a solar grade. If the glass must look untouched, clear UV film. We check the orientation and how you use the terrace before recommending either.
